SEN Youth Mentor

Location:

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
Pay: £20 - 25 per hour

Hours:

Part-time, Mon - Fri (2-3 hours daily)

Contract:

Flexible daytime hours

About the Role

As an SEN Youth Mentor, you'll support primary and secondary students with emotional, social, and educational needs across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole. This flexible role allows you to build meaningful relationships with young people while helping them overcome barriers to learning, improve confidence, and achieve personal goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support around family issues, peer pressure, mental health, and academic challenges
  • Help students develop key life skills such as problem-solving, communication, and goal setting
  • Build confidence and self-esteem by recognising strengths and achievements
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor
  • Support reintegration into education by addressing behavioural and emotional needs
  • Offer guidance for older students on future pathways, including further education and employment
Who We're Looking For
  • Minimum 2 year's experience working with young people, particularly those with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of mentoring and supporting young people with complex needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Has Business Insurance or happy to obtain
