Assistant Headteacher

Bournemouth School is an 11–18 selective grammar school for boys, with a co-educational sixth form. Established in 1901 and converted to academy status in 2011, the school serves Bournemouth and the surrounding areas. In February 2024, Bournemouth School was judged “Outstanding” – a testament to the quality of teaching, leadership, and the success of our students.

As we build a new Senior Leadership Team, we have the flexibility to consider applications from those with a wide-range of skills and experiences. The specific responsibilities of the new Assistant Headteacher will be determined uponappointment. No matter what the specific responsibilities, the person appointed will be an excellent teacher and communicator, able to inspire confidence in all stakeholders, and motivate learners to achieve the highest outcomes.

Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining the school’s status as a beacon of excellence, ensuring that our students continue to flourish and excel in all aspects of their school life.

The Assistant Headteacher will support the strategic leadership and operational management of Bournemouth School. The postholder will lead designated whole-school priorities, contribute to school improvement, and ensure high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and student achievement.

The Assistant Headteacher will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the day-to-day leadership of the school, modelling excellent practice and supporting the school’s ethos of academic excellence and personal development.
