Job Description Civil Project Engineer - Environment

Location: Bournemouth

An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Project Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.

You will work on our AMP 8 Wessex Water Framework within our Environment Business, delivering schemes of varying sizes across both Wastewater Treatment and Water schemes.

Ideally, you will be based in or around the Bournemouth area however there is flexibility with your home base as the team delivering these schemes works across Dorset and occasionally from the Bristol. The expectation is for you to be site based with hybrid working and travel to company offices when required.

What you will be doing
  • Be an integral part of our Project Delivery team, working alongside internal and external multi-discipline designers and Project Engineers (Civils, Process, Structural, Electrical & Mechanical Design).
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to promote integrated and efficient project delivery.
  • Lead on producing operational construction stage documentation and obtain necessary external permits and approvals to start construction.
  • Engage and manage internal resources and sub-contractors through pre-construction, site investigation, design, and construction phases.
  • Act as a vital link between the Client, key third-party stakeholders, and the supply chain, ensuring clear communication and effective programming of works.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and a positive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards with transparency and integrity.
  • Participate in design, progress, and site meetings, supporting team development through mentoring and coaching.
  • Contribute to programme reviews, cost management, and compliance with our delivery processes and procedures using Common Data Environments (CDE).
About you
  • Bring experience in infrastructure project delivery, with relevant qualifications.
  • Understand NEC4 Contractual requirements and demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development.
  • Have a sound knowledge of current legislation, working in line with QA, H&S procedures, and CDM awareness.
  • Show excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Remain focused and adaptable during challenges, with a willingness to learn and embrace new ways of working.
  • Communicate effectively, listen actively, and offer constructive feedback in a respectful and supportive way.
