Lead Flight Test Engineer

Shape advanced flight test capability within a specialist aerospace organisation delivering complex airborne evaluation and training systems to defence customers. This is a hands‑on leadership role with international exposure and significant technical ownership.

Requirements
  • British citizenship due to security requirements
  • Proven experience as a Lead Flight Test Engineer across multiple air‑vehicle types
  • Qualification as a Flight Test Engineer from a recognised Flight Test Training Organisation
  • Experience working with flight‑test programmes in a regulated aviation environment
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, design and test‑pilot teams in high‑pressure environments
  • Support regulatory engagement and maintain compliance with aviation authorities
Salary and rewards

£80,000 to £100,000 plus very lucrative benefits.

Your role
  • Lead planning, execution and reporting of flight‑test activities across a diverse aerospace fleet
  • Develop test strategies, procedures and certification plans for complex flight‑test programmes
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure safe integration of modifications and systems
  • Oversee flight‑test risk management and ensure safe delivery to required standards
  • Produce clear technical reporting to support certification and operational readiness decisions
Your experience
  • Strong background in flight‑test engineering within aerospace environments
  • Experience delivering multi‑aircraft test programmes from concept through to execution
  • Comfortable working within regulated aviation frameworks and safety‑critical operations
  • Experience working with instrumentation and flight‑test data systems is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and operational stakeholders
  • Background in defence aviation or electronic warfare environments would be an advantage
