Accounts Assistant

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: £28,000 DOE

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm

Tru Talent is delighted to be working with a well-established waste management client who is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to support the Finance Director and wider finance team. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant:

  • Processing customer and supplier invoices accurately and on time
  • Maintaining purchase ledger and sales ledger records
  • Collecting monthly direct debit payments
  • Allocating customer payments and reconciling customer accounts
  • Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
  • Carrying out credit control duties, including chasing outstanding payments
  • Supporting month-end processes and management accounts preparation
  • Entering financial data into internal accounting systems
  • Managing the finance department mailbox and handling incoming post
  • Responding to customer and supplier enquiries via telephone and email
  • Liaising with Sales and Customer Service teams to resolve account queries
  • Providing general administrative support to the Finance Director and finance team
  • Assisting colleagues across the business when required

Needed for the role of Accounts Assistant:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
  • Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills
  • Good organisational and time management abilities
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive, flexible and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
