Band 6, Rotational Frailty Occupational Therapist – University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

Hours:

Passionate about working with older people? This senior Occupational Therapist role offers the opportunity to develop extended skills and advanced practice in frailty within our highly regarded Older Persons Services Team. The post is rotational, covering Emergency Department (ED) & Same Day Emergency Care, Older Persons Assessment Unit, Older Persons wards, Outliers, and Day Hospital clinics and community outreach.

Main duties

Expectations include working holistically across professional boundaries, service development, supporting and supervising junior staff, and collaborating with experienced professionals within hospital and community settings.

Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Degree
  • HCPC Registration
  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
Experience
  • Relevant NHS experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Band 5 experience covering Older Adults, Neurology, Hand/Orthopaedics, Acute
  • Experience in an acute physical setting
Technical skills
  • Ability to teach patients, relatives, carers & staff
  • Ability to critique research articles
  • Excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication, establishing rapport with diverse groups
  • Ability to teach & supervise junior staff & assistants
  • Good time‑management skills
  • IT skills – word processing
  • Ability to prioritise clinical workload
Other requirements
  • Ability to drive – hold a clean drivers licence & have access to a car for work purposes
  • English language proficiency sufficient to undertake the role
