The Older People's Psychology service would like to invite applications for an enthusiastic art psychotherapist to join our service. We are looking for an art psychotherapist (up to 22.5 hours per week depending on banding) to provide a service across our teams based in Bournemouth/Christchurch and Wimborne areas.
As part of the Pan Dorset Older People's Psychology Service, you will work with friendly, dedicated and forward‑thinking psychologists to provide specialist psychological services for older people under the care of OP‑CMHTs.
Main duties of the job- Offer specialist psychological assessment and therapy, as well as advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non‑psychologist colleagues and those involved in a person's care.
- Deliver a service in often challenging environments, working across a variety of wards with the support of the well‑established inpatient psychology team.
- Provide a specialist art psychotherapy offer within Older People's Community Mental Health Teams.
- Liaise with MDTs and community services when required.
- Receive and provide regular supervision and participate in professional development events and training.
- Art Therapy Qualification
- Registered with HCPC
- Extensive post‑qualification experience in mental health
- Post qualification in 1 or more specialised therapy/area
- Knowledge of NICE and other relevant best practice guidelines in relation to client group
- Experience of individual and group work within specialist service
- Good communication skills; able to cope with emotive and distressing client situations
- Specialist knowledge and application of best practice of art therapy in mental health
- Ability to use clinical supervision and provide consultation to staff groups
- Ability to assess client risk and develop strategies to manage risk
- Effective team working skills
