Role Description
In this role, you will be instrumental in creating fully operational data products aimed at solving problems at the core of our business. You will work in a multi-functional environment and will harness and expand the Data Platform, by using and evolving technical design patterns, and contributing to the enrichment of the enterprise data model.
Our team works closely with various business areas and subject matter experts to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the business, its challenges, and needs. Each new delivery holds its own challenges, and the job holder will demonstrate a range of technical and analytical skills, but the ability to problem-solve is fundamental to ensure successful delivery towards our strategic goals.
This is a hybrid role from our Bournemouth office, with a requirement to be in the office for two days each month.
Salary InformationPay:
Circa £67,500 per annum. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
- Work with business stakeholders and technical SMEs to build and monitor end-to-end data pipelines and products deployed onto Azure.
- Utilise and evolve existing technologies and design pattern to safeguard the architectural standards of our Data Platform.
- Ensure SLAs are adhered to by producing efficient, stable and accurate data processing routines.
- Build excellent relationships with stakeholders, communicate progress, and set expectations at each step of the delivery process
- Creating data products to address complex business challenges and collaborating across teams for all aspects of project delivery.
- Developing CI/CD processes to help automate workflows.
- Working within an agile framework, managing tickets and collaborating on joint tasks.
- Presenting project findings to stakeholders and internal teams, communicating at appropriate technical levels.
- Staying up to date with the latest cloud and data technologies as you contribute to building new tools and infrastructure.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with experience in building data solutions on Azure or other public cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of Data modelling and Data Warehousing techniques
- Experience in working with both structured and semi-structured data e.g. XML/JSON
- Proficiency in ETL processes for reading, transforming, and verifying data using tools, in particular Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark SQL and PySpark.
- Able to performance‑tune complex data pipelines
- Experience with Dev Ops, including CI/CD, release management, and management of git repositories.
- Familiarity with Agile Ways of Working (JIRA).
- Ability to deliver projects and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Committed to continual improvement of your technical skills throughout your career.
- Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Knowledge of GDPR‑compliance and data governance in the context of data platforms.
- Experience in insurance or financial services.
- Familiarity with underlying technologies and principles of Spark.
- Knowledge of building near‑real time/streaming pipelines
- Infrastructure management, including monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Knowledge of and experience in delivering Data Vault solutions
