Job Title: Purchasing and Product Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a commercially focused Purchasing and Product Manager to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and development of our network connectivity product range. Thiscritical role within the business involves all elements of product management and purchasingincluding supplier negotiation and relationship management, inventory planning and optimisation, product reporting and analysis, industry and product regulatory compliance. We envisage you will allocate 90% of your time to product management.
You will partner with suppliers, strategic customers, and cross-functional teams to optimise inventory performance, ensuring a resilient and efficient supply chain that supports business growth, meets evolving customer demand, enhances profitability, and delivers consistent product availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all purchasing and product management activity for the business.
Source products from our authorised suppliers whilst seeking opportunities
elsewhere - Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and availability.
- Monitor stock levels, sales trends, customer demand, supplier availability, market
shortages, allocation status, obsolescence and lifecycle status to inform purchasing
decisions - Review and introduce product ranges to support customer demand and commercialgrowth.
- Work collaboratively with sales, operations, warehouse, finance, quality, and
marketing colleagues - Manage supplier relationships, including price reviews, performance monitoring, leadtime management, contract terms, service levels, and issue resolution.
- Analyse product performance, pricing, margins, stock movement, competitor activity,and market trends to support commercial decision-making.
- Manage comprehensive datasets for the entire product range, facilitating global
digital proliferation of our product data. This includes product descriptions, technical specifications, datasheets, images, videos and compliance. - Involved in sales price list creation.
- Resolve supplier, delivery, pricing, quality, specification, documentation, and
compliance queries in a timely and professional manner. - Ensure purchasing and product management activities comply with the company's
ISO 9001 Quality Management System and support continuous improvement
initiatives. This includes Supplier performance reviews
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, product management, or a related
commercial role. - Experience using ERP, stock control, purchasing, or product information systems is essential
- Strong Excel skills are essential
- Strong analytical ability
- Experience of stock control, pricing, margins, minimum order quantities, lead times,
supplier performance, and product profitability. - Awareness of component lifecycle management, obsolescence risk, allocation,
counterfeit risk, supplier quality, and compliance requirements. - High attention to detail when managing technical product information, part numbers,datasheets, supplier references, pricing, and compliance records
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, communication, and commercial decision-making skills.
- CIPS qualification or similar would be advantageous.
- Experience with in network connectivity, electronic components, or a related technical sector is highly desirable

- Product availability, stock accuracy, and order fulfilment performance.
- Supplier performance, including lead times, quality, documentation accuracy, service levels, and on-time delivery.
- Achievement of margin targets, purchasing savings, and cost avoidance.
- Value of excess, obsolete, slow-moving, or at-risk stock.
- Accuracy of part numbers, product information, supplier records, pricing, and
compliance data. - Successful introduction and ongoing management of network connectivity product
