Production Engineer
Bournemouth
£41,500 – £45,750
This Production Engineer role reports to the Production Manager and is focused on stabilising production performance in a fast-moving precision manufacturing environment. You’ll create and deliver recovery plans when work is late, minimise overruns and downtime, improve utilisation, and keep jobs moving through scheduling to protect OTD. You’ll also own shopfloor NCR/ECR discipline, driving timely closure and reducing repeat non‑conformance through practical lean‑led improvement.
ProductionEngineer Overview
- Build and deliver recovery plans for late production issues to protect OTD
- Reduce overruns and downtime by removing blockers and improving flow
- Maximise utilisation of shopfloor resources through prioritisation and coordination
- Own NCR/ECR raising and closure, reducing repeat internal non‑conformance
- Apply lean techniques to cut waste, cost and disruption across production
- Creating and delivering recovery plans for late production issues
- Minimising the effect of overruns in production
- Minimising the effect of downtime in production
- Ensuring production resources are fully utilised
- Working with lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost of waste
- Supporting jobs through the scheduling system to ensure OTD to customers
- Being responsible for ECRs being raised and supporting closure
- Being responsible for all shopfloor NCRs being raised and supporting closure
- Driving the reduction of the number of shopfloor NCRs
- Any other duties relevant to the role
- Support to achieve the monthly sales invoice target
- Support to achieve the monthly quality target
- Support NCR and ECR targets are met and closed within the quoted timeline
- Reduction in number of internal NCRs
- Experience in a Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer role in a machining/precision manufacturing environment
- Confident driving recovery actions, priorities and scheduling to protect OTD
- Comfortable owning NCR/ECR activity from raising through to closure
- Lean mindset with evidence of waste reduction and practical improvements
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a structured approach to delivery
- Clear communication across production, planning and wider stakeholders
- £41,500 – £45,750 salary
- High‑impact role with clear KPIs across delivery, utilisation and internal non‑conformance
