An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a busy and growing machine shop in Poole. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a precision engineering environment and takes pride in producing high-quality components to tight tolerances.
The Role- Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
- Producing precision-engineered components from technical drawings and specifications.
- Optimising programs to improve efficiency and cycle times.
- Selecting and setting tooling and work-holding equipment.
- Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required.
- Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
- Ensuring all components meet quality standards and specified tolerances.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator.
- Strong CNC turning experience.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working to close tolerances and quality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with Sliding Head CNC machines (Citizen, Tornos or similar) would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong CNC turning backgrounds will also be considered.
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00, 30-minute unpaid lunch break, Two paid 10-minute tea breaks
Friday: 07:00 - 12:00, One paid tea break, Total paid hours: 39 hours per week
Salary & Benefits£18.00 - £21.00 per hour, depending on experience and skillset.
Approximate annual earnings: £36,504 per annum based on £18.00 per hour; £42,588 per annum based on £21.00 per hour;
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate when available (not guaranteed). Full-time permanent position. Supportive and collaborative working environment. Ongoing training and development opportunities. Candidates with proven experience programming, setting and operating Sliding Head CNC machines may be considered for a salary above the advertised range, depending on their level of experience, expertise and overall suitability for the role.
