University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves delivering specialised neonatal care to preterm and critically ill newborns in a level‑2 centre providing ventilation, cerebral cooling and monitoring.
This role demands clinical precision, compassion and excellent communication skills to ensure optimal care and outcomes for newborns in critical need.
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns, including ventilated and intensive care patients.
- Monitor vital signs and manage treatment protocols.
- Safely administer medications and treatments.
- Provide parental support and education.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in clinical decision‑making.
- Engage in professional development activities.
- Work in a state‑of‑the‑art, purpose‑built NICU.
- Supportive multidisciplinary team and friendly environment.
- Access to a preceptorship programme for all new staff and the Neonatal Qualified in Specialty course.
- Fast‑paced, energetic unit with day and night coverage.
