This busy, purpose‑built Haematology/Oncology Day Unit is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate individual with strong organisational and communication skills to complement the existing team. The day care unit includes a 14‑chair treatment area, procedure room, alternative therapy suite and many clinic rooms. It is very busy, seeing approximately 250 patients per week, providing chemotherapy, supportive care and occasional blood transfusion.

Training will be provided for chemotherapy administration.

Note: This position is not open to Newly Qualified Staff Nurses.

This role requires NMC Registration.

Full‑time post of 37.5 hrs per week. The Haematology and Oncology Day Unit operates shifts of 8‑6pm Monday‑Friday, including bank holidays. The role includes direct patient care, administration of chemotherapy, managing supportive care protocols, and occasional blood transfusion. You will also support professional development by attending National Study Days and Conferences, and will benefit from the unit‑based Practice Educator who supports induction, university‑accredited courses and in‑house educational programmes.

• NMC Registered Nurse.
• Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies.
• Teaching Qualification.
• Post‑registration courses related to Haematology/Oncology.

• Experience caring for patients with acute and long‑term conditions.
• Demonstrable clinical experience.
• Experience in end‑of‑life care.
• Basic IT skills.
• Ability to monitor vital signs and recognise deteriorating patients.
• Non‑IV and IV medication administration, including blood products.
• Calculating drug doses for infusions with frequent concentration changes.
• Venepuncture and cannulation.
• Administration of chemotherapy.
• Awareness of audit processes.

• Fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills.
• Knowledge of conditions relevant to Haematology and Oncology.
• Awareness of patient experience, quality and safety agendas supporting Governance Frameworks.

• Effective communication using a variety of methods.
• Ability to communicate sensitive and complex information to patients, carers and significant others.
• Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
• Ability to integrate and work within the multidisciplinary team.
• Organisation and planning skills.
• Leadership and management abilities.
