General Maintenance Assistant Mechanical (Shift Working)

Join to apply for the General Maintenance Assistant Mechanical (Shift Working) role at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust
. The position is located at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and involves working with the Trust’s mechanical and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain mechanical and plumbing equipment & systems, including unblocking basins, sinks, wc’s and drains, heating, hot & cold water systems, ventilation & air conditioning.
  • Perform day‑to‑day repairs, operation, and first line response for the Trust’s mechanical and plumbing equipment.
  • Carry out basic servicing, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical and plumbing equipment.
  • Clear blockages in drainage pipework; clean gullies, grates and traps.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted economically, safely and in accordance with legislation and approved standards.
  • Execute additional duties within the Estates function as directed by the General & Estates Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full driving licence (vehicle group

    A) – required.
  • Proven track record in maintenance of mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Willingness to learn and be a dedicated team player.
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern general mechanical and plumbing maintenance activities, both reactive and planned.
  • Conformity with relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
