Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Fine and Performing Arts seeks an Adjunct Professor in the Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts (VCDMA) program, Animation and Motion Graphics concentration. This role includes:

Teaching courses in 2D/3D animation, character design, storyboarding, rigging, and/or motion graphics.

Performing and producing creative research and service.

Assisting with the management of computer graphics and digital media labs, studios, and classrooms.

Serving as Internship Coordinator and/or assisting with professional experiences for undergraduate students.

Providing instruction for undergraduate courses and contributing to scholarly activities in the VCDMA major.

Participating in student advising and VCDMA program support.

Collaborating with other VCDMA faculty on thesis exhibitions and portfolio reviews.

Assisting with program management and oversight of VCDMA major and curriculum.

Providing assistance with VCDMA computer labs and technology upgrades.

Collaborating with DIT to maintain systems, security, and network integrity.

Troubleshooting computer and software issues in VCDMA labs.

Supervising undergraduate student volunteers and assistants.

Assisting students with obtaining internships and experiential learning opportunities.

Providing creative evidence of research, such as animated productions and exhibitions.

Assisting the VCDMA Program Coordinator and collaborating with faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: MFA preferred in Animation, Motion Graphics, or related field. Background in teaching undergraduate courses in relevant areas is essential.

Experience: Minimum three (3) years of successful undergraduate teaching experience. Professional experience in related fields and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrates knowledge of visual communication, design, and media production. Understanding of current industry standards and trends is crucial.
