We are looking for an Orthopedic Medical Assistant to provide key support in an ambulatory setting at Luminis Health. The successful candidate will assist physicians and providers in patient care, procedures, and administrative duties while delivering outstanding patient service.
Position ObjectiveThe Orthopedic Medical Assistant works in an ambulatory setting providing assistance to physicians/physician assistants and their patients. Responsibilities include rooming, educating, and helping patients during visits; assisting with minor procedures; casting/splinting; suture/staple removal; and delivering superior customer service. The role requires a cooperative, friendly, and results‑oriented approach in collaboration with practice staff.
EssentialJob Duties
- Assist orthopedists, PAs, or NPs with fracture reduction, dislocations, and the application of casts/splints. Apply slings, ace wraps, crutches/canes, immobilizers, plaster, fiberglass, and pre‑formed splints, and instruct patients in proper care and use.
- Obtain patient vital signs and accurately document them in the medical record. Prepare patients for smooth flow through triage, interview, and education.
- Prepare equipment and assist in minor office procedures; remove sutures or staples; apply and remove bandages and dressings; properly dispose of medical waste; educate patients on general exercises ordered by the provider.
- Maintain sufficient inventories of medical and office supplies; process orders for clinical supplies per practice standards.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and establish a positive rapport with each patient, demonstrating the AAMC Service Excellence Framework (iCare).
- High‑school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited training program preferred.
- Customer‑service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Reasonable expectations: exposure to blood‑borne pathogens; medium physical demand (squat, lift, bend, move objects up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly). Require ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, and move intermittently during work hours. Must speak, hear, read, and write English. Professional appearance, neatness, and courteous disposition required.
Pay Range$17.50 – $26.00 USD per hour
