We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team on a contract basis covering an employee leave. This candidate will work 1 day a week in the Bowie office and can work 4 days remotely. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced and collaborative work environment while utilizing your expertise in payroll processing and experience with CostPoint and ADP.
Job Summary:
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration for our employees. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of payroll principles and regulations, along with hands-on experience using CostPoint and ADP. This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to handle confidential information with discretion, and exceptional problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll using CostPoint and ADP systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Verify and reconcile timesheets, pay rates, deductions, and other payroll-related data.
- Calculate and process adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll-related payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters, including tax with holdings, deductions, and paycheck discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee information for payroll processing.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll-related reports and analysis, such as tax filings, wage statements, and labor distribution reports.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and laws, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Participate in payroll-related audits and assist with the resolution of any discrepancies or issues identified.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information and adhere to data protection and privacy policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll processing, principles, and best practices.
- Experience using CostPoint and ADP systems is essential.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other payroll software.
- Excellent understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and resolve payroll-related issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
