Parks Equipment Maintenance Technician - Parks And Grounds

The City of Bowie is accepting applications for a Parks Equipment Maintenance Technician Apprentice/Technician I, based on qualifications. The selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of trucks, mowers, tractors, landscape trailers, and other motor equipment. The incumbent will have the ability to utilize computers and scanning devices to assess and evaluate needed repairs and inspections; and provide on call services for emergency equipment and vehicle breakdowns.

Knowledge of the standard tools, materials and practices of the automotive trade, and knowledge of the principles and mechanics of internal combustion engines and newer electric and battery-operated vehicles and equipment is a must. The successful candidate will have to perform heavy lifting and effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, while maintaining good working relationships with fellow supervisors and employees.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s license from the state in which applicant resides.
• Some experience in the automotive mechanic trade, or completion of an approved apprenticeship.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• Able to obtain a valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) within their first 6-months of employment.
• Obtain an Automotive Service Excellence Certification within first year of employment.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• CDL motor vehicle license
• Three (3) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic including some experience in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some technical school training in vehicle and/or small engine related certification

• Apprentice Maintenance Technician: $26.24 HOURLY
• Maintenance Technician: $28.05 HOURLY
