The Western Kentucky University Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is August 2026.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned a Doctorate in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program, or a related field. ABD candidates who successfully defend their dissertation by August 2026 will also be considered.
  • Earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Is eligible for state licensure and has a minimum of two years of post-MSW direct practice experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency engaging with individuals across multiple cultures, disciplines, and educational/professional backgrounds, and is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Actively contributes to an inclusive and equitable learning environment, has a developed and well-defined teaching philosophy, and evidenced record of teaching effectiveness.
  • Can articulate a well-defined and focused research agenda in the field with a demonstrated interest in student centered applied scholarship that actively seeks funding and leads to sustainable peer reviewed publication and dissemination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the college/university level, particularly within a CSWE-accredited Social Work program.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and/or conference presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing a diverse range of instructional modalities, including online asynchronous and synchronous platforms and face-to-face instruction, reflecting a commitment to pedagogical innovation.
  • Engaged in meaningful service within the community, university/college, or profession.
