The Elevator Modernization Project Manager leads and coordinates multiple elevator modernization projects nationally, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, liaising with clients and vendors, and overseeing all phases of modernization—from scope definition to final inspection.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for elevator modernization projects.
- Coordinate with engineering, field technicians, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution.
- Monitor progress and adjust schedules or resources as needed to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate all contract activities from RFP through project completion, ensuring contract documents are consistent with required scope of project.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building owners, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates, manage expectations, and resolve issues proactively.
- Ensure all modernization work complies with local, state, and federal codes (e.g., ASME A17.1).
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify quality and safety standards are met.
- Manage procurement of modernization components (controllers, door equipment, hoist machines, etc.).
- Track expenses and ensure projects stay within budget.
- Interpret contractual documents and modifications to determine cost of such change.
- Maintain accurate records of project milestones, inspections, and change orders.
- Prepare post-project evaluations and lessons learned reports.
- 5+ years of experience in elevator industry, with at least 3 years of modernization experience and 2 years in project and portfolio management.
- Strong understanding of elevator systems and modernization processes.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with cost estimating, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in blueprint, shop drawing, and specification reading.
- Familiarity with ASME A17.1 and other applicable building codes.
