Position Summary
- Assists the Lead Electrician in overseeing the operation of electrical systems. Repairs and maintains electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications using hand and power tools, various meters and other testing devices.
- Work Experience
- Previous experience in hospital and/or nursing home preferred.
- Education
- Completion of electrical trades program, vocational HVAC training, or equivalent work experience required.
- Certifications/Licensure
- Master Electrician or Journeyman’s license (Electrical or HVAC) required.
- Must have a valid Kentucky driver's license required.
- Motor vehicle record check required and will be performed annually.
The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned, and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Inspects and services emergency generators to include all aspects of the critical and life safety branches.
- Repairs and services electric motors, switch gears, fuses, breakers, electrical transmission devices, generators, etc.
- Orders supplies, test equipment, and tools needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Assures the electrical safety tests are completed on a timely basis and that repairs are accomplished as needed, along with all aspects of the preventative maintenance.
- Reads blueprints and is able to coordinate the electrical components of construction projects.
- Inspects and maintains hospital beds.
- Assists in monitoring department operations for indications of quality control/assurance problems.
- Maintains and repairs isolation monitors, fire alarm system and the clock system.
- Pulls telephone and communication cables as requested.
- Discusses maintenance problems/issues with other hospital staff and patients.
- Performs snow removal duties during periods of inclement weather, such duties as shoveling, hauling, salting, etc.
- Operates company vehicle. Adheres to driving laws and regulations and assures safe operation of vehicle. Conducts general maintenance checks on company vehicle. Reports maintenance issues. Maintains record of maintenance checks.
