Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

As a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II you will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and advanced diagnostics under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. You will continue to develop advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques, comply with company policies, and achieve high level performance metrics.

DUTIES
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine relevance of information using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on a company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/​post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, solve problems, or satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using a company‑issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field. Alternative qualifications may include a higher degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 5 years of experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration, or complete a DOT physical if the card has four (4) months or less remaining.
