Job Description
The Project Engineer is a key member of the project operations team that provides critical support to Project Management and serves as the liaison between the Field and the Office. Under the supervision of Project Management, the Project Engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Developing pre‑work and post‑work submittal packages
- Processing, validating, and compiling cable test reports
- Drafting and processing RFIs and change‑order requests
- Verifying field conditions against design documents
- Ensuring working sets of drawings and specifications are up‑to‑date
- Maintaining redline/ as‑built drawing sets and keeping project records appropriately filed
- Facilitating communication across the extended Project Team to keep everyone informed
- Follow Safe Work Practices to keep the team accident‑free
- Promote company core values and foster a healthy culture
- Participate in RFP processes and review bid packages
- Provide close support to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager
- Suggest process improvements to meet customer needs
- Manage, mentor, and develop colleagues
- Interact with customers to validate expectations before, during, and after project completion
- Support subcontractors and oversee their work
- Lead field validation of telecom design and resolve conflicts via RFIs
- Manage project review for constructability, value engineering, and design discrepancies
- Implement and oversee electronic tracking systems for real‑time visibility
- Report daily/weekly, raise issues, and coordinate with project managers and contractors
- Communicate challenges, risks, and successes proactively
- Coordinate with Project Superintendent(s) on installation methods and labor needs
- Support QA/QC and ensure adherence to quality plans
- Ensure downstream team members meet task deadlines
- Review contracts and purchase orders to align scope with estimates
- Maintain customer relationships
- Coordinate materials and equipment availability with field operations
- Accept and signoff customer work
- Owner the change‑management process and drive resolution
- Partner with QA/QC teams and validate test results (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.)
- Maintain up‑to‑date redlines throughout the build lifecycle
- Lead preparation of closeout documentation and customer‑ready submittals
- Proven ability to use data and information for decision‑making
- Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
- Deep understanding of estimating and engineering best practices
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Disciplined, detail‑oriented, organized, and self‑driven
- Leadership presence with mentoring abilities
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders without direct authority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, Textura, and related tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5+ years’ construction industry experience in a similar role
- Experience with large structured cabling or data center projects highly preferred
- OSHA‑30 Hour (obtain within 6 months if not certified at hire)

This position has no direct reports.
Work Location and TravelOn‑site daily with up to 15% travel.
