Wood County Hospital is now accepting applications for an Infection Preventionist. This position is responsible to plan, organize, develop, coordinate and direct Wood Count Hospital's Infection Control Program and its activities in accordance with current Federal, State and Local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern such programs and as may be directed by the Director of Quality to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained.
About the Role
This position is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and other infection related metrics; education of employees about infection prevention; and the development of hospital policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control and prevention standards that meet applicable recommendations, standards, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective infection control/prevention care to the patient populations served by the hospital.
Effectively communicates and collaborates both intra- and interdepartmentally with staff, management, physicians, administration, and other healthcare team members.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and other infection related metrics.
- Education of employees about infection prevention.
- Development of hospital policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control and prevention standards.
- Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective infection control/prevention care.
- Effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, management, physicians, administration, and other healthcare team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science or a related field. - Current licensure to practice professional Nursing in the State of Ohio
- Attain Associate-Infection Prevention Control (a-IPC) through the Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology program within one year after employment.
- Current certification in Infection Control or Epidemiology required or obtained within 3 years after employment (CIC preferred).
- Infection prevention experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and regulations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in infection prevention.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
