Hardware Electrical Engineer
Are you ready to make an impact in a global food processing organization? Then you might be our new Hardware Electrical Engineer!
We're hiring a Hardware Electrical Engineer to join JBT Marel’s Poultry Innovation team.
About the Role As a Hardware Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing hardware systems for machines in our New Product Development (NPD). Beyond this, you will play a key role in standardizing hardware components and developing best practices to ensure consistency across the organization. A strong understanding of hardware design principles and industrial automation systems is critical for success in this role.
What You’ll Do Ownership of Hardware :
As the one responsible of the hardware components within NPD projects, ensure all design processes comply to established standards.
Development of new hardware concepts: If a particular product-market combination requires a non-standard hardware concept, proactively address design challenges, implementing solutions that can be scaled and standardized.
Feasibility Studies and Component Evaluation :
Conduct feasibility studies for new non-standard hardware components, and consequently industrialize promising options. Document recommendations and standardize the new components to guide future design decisions.
Standardization of Hardware Designs :
Develop and maintain thorough documentation for hardware standards, contributing to a repository of best practices that guide hardware choices. Stay updated on hardware trends and developments. Continuously refine and update hardware standards and best practices, in alignment with the vision and roadmap of Poultry Innovation.
Implementation, Integration and Testing :
Guide the creation of electrical plans, participate in system integration, commissioning, and start-up activities, ensuring that hardware systems are installed and tested according to test plans and best practices. Customer visits are part of the job.
️ What You Bring The preferred candidate should possess a diverse educational background and/or relevant experience in manufacturing companies, service management, technical roles, process management, and customer support. Extensive knowledge of processes and IT is essential.
If you are the right candidate, ideally you have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Next to this, you recognize yourself in:
Technical Proficiency and Problem-Solving :
Demonstrate a strong ability to address complex hardware issues, standardizing solutions that can be used across different projects.
Communication and Collaboration :
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. A team player able to maneuver a varied landscape of stakeholders, including those from other groups or departments within Marel. Excellent English skills, both written and verbal. Dutch language skills are preferred.
Hands-On and Methodical : A hands-on approach, paired with a structured and organized method of documenting and reporting hardware designs, ensuring alignment with best practices.
Proactive and Detail-Oriented : A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, able to both drive the standardization of hardware components, but also able to innovate to meet the vision and roadmap for Marel Innovation.
Broad Technical Knowledge :
Familiarity with safety regulations, hygienic design standards, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Powerlink, OPC/UA). Proficiency in using tools such as E-plan to review hardware designs.
Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
Nice to Have Experience in R&D and industrial machine development, with an emphasis on hardware standardization and best practices.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Proficiency in Dutch or other European languages is a plus.
