Boxmeer. We are hiring a Regional R&D Director (Ruminants).

About the Ruminants R&D Team

Our Global Ruminants R&D department includes 13 employees in Boxmeer (NL), 15 in DeSoto (US), and 3 in Bendigo (AU). The team manages end-to-end research and development of vaccines, from feasibility studies through product licensure and lifecycle management thereafter. The team is organized into project groups to support this work.

Purpose of the role

Under the direction of the AVP Biologics R&D (Boxmeer), you will manage, coach and develop the Regional R&D Ruminants team in Boxmeer (13 employees, 3 direct reports). You will be responsible for biological research and development within the field of Ruminants Biologicals in the region, leading to the timely launch of commercially viable products. As a member of the Global Ruminants Species Team, you contribute to the Global Strategic vision for current and future product needs in line with company strategy.

You formulate new initiatives and are responsible for the timely progression of product development according to plans, milestones, budgets and company guidelines. This role involves close collaboration with the Regional R&D Lead (Ruminants) in the US and with regional/global leaders in Marketing, Commercial, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs and Legal (IP).

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and develop the Regional R&D Ruminants team in Boxmeer (13 employees, 3 direct reports) to strengthen market position.
  • Oversee biological research and development within the region, ensuring timely progression to commercially viable vaccines for ruminants.
  • Collaborate with regional and global leaders across Marketing, Commercial, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs and Legal (IP).
  • Define initiatives and manage product development plans, milestones, budgets and timelines in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Partner with the Regional R&D Lead (Ruminants) in the US and other global stakeholders to align on strategy and execution.
Qualifications
  • PhD in life sciences, followed by several years of industrial experience in developing vaccines for animal health.
  • Solid understanding of husbandry of commercial ruminant species (dairy and beef cattle, sheep and goats) or a veterinary degree is an advantage.
  • Proven track record of managing and developing a team of highly skilled scientists in a complex, international organization.
  • Results-driven with an innovative mindset, curiosity about emerging technologies, and a focus on practical implementation.
  • Experience in developing and managing project plans, objectives, budgets and timelines, and allocating resources effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, stay updated on scientific/technical advancements, and collaborate with external partners.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural, global teams.
  • Strong command of English;
    Dutch language skills or willingness to learn Dutch are preferred.
