Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to serve as the Research Director for an inpatient psychiatric program. This role is responsible for leading, supervising, and executing all clinical research activities within the inpatient environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience serving as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Sub-Investigator (Sub-I) on clinical research trials and will provide both clinical and research oversight to ensure safe, compliant, and high‑quality study operations.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing clinical oversight for research participants in an inpatient setting.
  • Conduct assessments, review medical histories, and monitor participant safety.
  • Manage adverse events and provide medical decision‑making related to trial participation.
Research Leadership
  • Serve as Principal Investigator or Sub‑Investigator for inpatient clinical trials.
  • Oversee study conduct, protocol compliance, and regulatory adherence (GCP, FDA, IRB standards).
  • Review and approve study protocols, eligibility assessments, and safety documentation.
  • Supervise research staff including Sub‑Is, coordinators, and support personnel.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, data integrity, and timely completion of study milestones.
Administrative & Oversight Duties
  • Collaborate with research teams to ensure operational readiness for ongoing and upcoming trials.
  • Participate in audits, monitoring visits, and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements, staff training, and policy development.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO with specialty in Psychiatry (board‑certified or board‑eligible).
  • Required: Experience as a PI or Sub‑I on clinical research trials.
  • Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and research ethics.
  • Experience in an inpatient psychiatric environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
