Base pay range: $55,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr (salary based on skill and experience).

The Behavioral Health Counselor supports the behavioral and mental health of students, providing a continuum of support including prevention, intervention, and intensive strategies. This role is integral to proactive, multidisciplinary mental/behavioral health initiatives.

• Plans and conducts appropriate behavioral/mental health interventions including short‑term, solution‑focused individual, group, and family counseling for students.
• Supports implementation of best practices: MTSS, SwPBS, Restorative Justice, and School‑Based Teams.
• Assists with crisis intervention services, short‑term crisis counseling, staff support, and parent education activities.
• Coordinates student transitions into and out of behavioral and mental health recovery programs and monitors reintegration.
• Acts as liaison between families, agencies, and school services via behavioral health agreements.
• Leads preventive multidisciplinary initiatives with community partners for early identification and intervention supports.
• Collects, tracks, compiles and assembles data for analysis and compliance reporting.
• Provides individual, group and family support aligned with the school behavioral health continuum; reviews behavior referrals for trends and intervention needs.
• Works collaboratively with teachers, counselors, psychologists, administrators, community partners, and families.
• Supports staff with behavioral and wellness strategies and encourages understanding of multicultural values and trauma‑informed practices.

Annual progress will be assessed with respect to support and achievement of the district’s strategic plan and applicable scorecards.

• Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with school board priorities.
• Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, staff, and the community in support of the district’s mission statement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or related field OR five (5) years of related industry experience (Master’s degree preferred).
• Licensed Master/Clinical Social Worker (LM/CSW), Certified Mental Health Professional (CMHP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or similar certification(s)/license(s) preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience with youth experiencing emotional trauma, mental or behavioral health issues, or at‑risk/crisis situations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide individual, group, and family supports.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, community agency partners, and families.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team of mental/behavioral health professionals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of current computing technologies and relevant software applications.
