Hematology Oncology Associates was established in Palm Beach County over 35 years ago, and has grown to include 10 Board Certified Hematologists and Oncologists and 6 Nurse Practitioners in 3 convenient locations within our community. Our goal is to provide state‑of‑the‑art cancer treatments with a high level of compassionate care in a warm, inviting environment. We also specialize in the treatment of coagulation blood disorders, leukemias and other hematologic benign conditions.

Job Description
  • Supervise, guide, and mentor nursing staff on the unit, ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating nursing care during shifts, helping to allocate tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff or nurses.
  • Oversee patient care delivery, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care in accordance with their medical needs.
  • Monitor patient progress, assist in developing discharge plans, and provide hands‑on care.
  • Monitor the performance of nursing staff, providing feedback, and supporting their professional development.
  • Address any issues related to staff performance or patient care and escalates them when necessary.
  • Ensure that nurses follow clinical protocols and best practices.
  • Conduct patient assessments, supervise patient treatments, and ensure proper documentation of all medical records.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols, monitoring medication administration, and ensuring proper use of medical equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
  • Address issues or conflicts among staff, patients, or families, providing solutions to ensure a positive working and care environment.
  • Make decisions on urgent matters, including staffing shortages or changes in care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Provide clear instructions to the nursing team and relay any changes in patient conditions or care plans.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the unit is equipped to provide optimal care.
