Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) Pre Op PACU.

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
  • Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures, including the cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status.
  • Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
  • Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
  • Apply relevant scoring systems/discharge criteria for patient transfer (e.g., Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score, PARSAP, PADSS, White score) accurately as defined by organizational policy.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
  • Implement the plan of care, including interventions such as managing patient recovery from anesthesia (general, monitored anesthesia care, regional, local), protecting the patient from injury, communicating patient status, managing pain, administering medications safely, maintaining wound and tissue perfusion, ensuring normothermia, preventing infection, managing co-morbid conditions, and educating the patient or support person.
  • Evaluate the patient’s progress toward outcomes and transfer care as needed.
  • Provide accurate, concise hand-off reports to other team members.
  • Delegate tasks according to legal and professional standards.
  • Document nursing care completely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in performance appraisals, team meetings, and trainings.
  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective relationships.
  • Maintain competencies, pursue professional growth, act as a patient advocate, and ensure confidentiality.
  • Comply with facility policies, participate in safety huddles, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • One year of Preoperative or PACU experience required.
  • Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state licensure to practice with good standing.
  • Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment or current certification.
  • Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment or current certification.
  • PALS certification required if pediatric care is included in scope.
