The Forklift Operator supports efficient, on‑site logistics operations with a strong emphasis on cross‑docking—moving materials rapidly between inbound and outbound docks to minimize storage time and improve delivery speed. This hands‑on role is responsible for safe equipment movement, accurate staging, and adherence to all facility and regulatory safety standards. The position plays a critical part in maintaining smooth, timely, and cost‑effective yard operations.

• Safely operate yard vehicles to transfer bins, vans, trailers, and tanker trucks throughout the facility.
• Support cross‑docking by quickly positioning inbound and outbound equipment at designated docks to minimize storage time and accelerate turnaround.
• Ensure wheel chocks and jack stands are properly placed and operational prior to any movement.
• Review MSDS and manifests when handling new or unfamiliar hazardous materials.
• Respond to and clean up spills following established safety procedures.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections—including brakes, fuel, fluids, lights, and tire pressure—to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Accurately placard and stage equipment in accordance with permitted storage and compliance requirements.
• Maneuver vehicles safely in tight, high‑traffic yard areas while adhering to speed limits and site driving rules.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• 0–3 years of experience in a driving, yard, or logistics support role.

Certifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Skills

• Strong spatial awareness and sound decision‑making with minimal supervision.
• Mechanically inclined with a strong safety mindset.
• Ability to plan and execute tasks efficiently in time‑sensitive environments.

Physical Requirements

• Medium work: frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, walking, bending, climbing, and use of hands/feet for vehicle operation.
• Must pass a respirator fit test and work safely in outdoor conditions.

Driving Requirements

• Operate cars, small and large trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions within the yard.
• Support vehicle movement required for real‑time dock scheduling.

Work Environment

• Less than 10% travel required.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
