Senior Environmental Remediation Engineer (Montana)

We are expanding our Montana Remediation Practice and invite a motivated, growth‑oriented professional to lead design, evaluation, and mentorship for remediation system selection and environmental engineering support on commercial and industrial projects across the Western United States.
Location and Travel- Locations: Butte, Bozeman, or Great Falls, MT
- Office Preference: Onsite
- Travel: Up to 20% within the continental US
- Function as the technical lead and Engineer of Record for remediation and restoration projects of all sizes.
- Provide engineering and design support for multiple projects.
- Coordinate planning and implementation of environmental investigations across all media.
- Prepare feasibility studies and develop remedial implementation plans, including construction support, permitting, and design clarifications.
- Develop, coordinate, and provide field oversight of pre‑design investigations, treatability studies, and pilot tests.
- Evaluate remediation performance and subsurface conditions; analyze data and prepare technical reports, plans, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality cost‑effective work by others.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and perform quality control reviews.
- Interface with and prepare reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare construction bid packages and implement construction quality assurance and quality control principles.
- Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, scope development, and cost tracking.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, training programs, and mentor staff to develop the next generation of engineers and managers.
- Provide input on Woodard & Curran design guidelines and standards.
- Develop and maintain client‑advisor relationships to generate repeat business.
- Assist and lead on proposal preparation and pursuit of new client and project opportunities.
- Conduct research, innovate, and develop new tools to demonstrate Woodard & Curran’s technical leadership.
- Provide field support, construction oversight, and site visits as needed.
- B.S. (M.S. desirable) in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- 10–20+ years of professional experience with an engineering consulting firm.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Montana, with reciprocity within six months in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming;
California licensure desirable if feasible. - Experience as Engineer of Record.
- Solid technical expertise in civil and environmental engineering, field investigations, analysis, documentation, remedial action planning, and construction implementation.
- Experience with former mine site remediation, oil & gas well closures, and interaction with regulators.
- Knowledge of state (MT, CA, CO, NM, WY) and federal regulations, including CERCLA and environmental science principles.
- Experience with stormwater calculations and models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Contractor and subcontractor management experience.
- Cost estimating and project budgeting.
- Strong attention to detail, quality assurance, and health and safety stewardship.
- Mentorship of project staff.
- Experience in the Mining and Oil & Gas markets preferred but not essential.
Compensation – $80,000 – $130,000 a year, dependent on experience and geographic differential.
