- An independent construction testing and inspection company in Bozeman that's been busy for years.
- A small team where everyone does the testing, the owner included.
- A PE on staff to work under, which is good experience if you're working toward your PE.
- You manage your own time, and they treat you like a professional.
We've partnered with an independent construction materials testing and inspection company in Bozeman. They're the third party on site making sure projects get built the way the plans and specs say. They're adding a second field engineer to a team with one field engineer, a PE and 8 inspectors.
You'd oversee projects and still do the testing yourself. You read the specs and geotech reports early, work out what each job needs for its duration, and pass that down to the technicians. When a test fails, you're the one walking the contractor through the result and the fix.
Materials testing experience is rare, so they don't expect you to have done it full time. If it was part of a past field engineering job, that gets a serious look. An EIT is preferred, and you'd be working under a PE every day.
If you're a field engineer who wants to work on the quality side of construction, reach out.
What You'll Actually Do:- Review plans, specs, geotech reports and special inspection requirements to set the testing scope for each project.

- Run field and lab tests on soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt, and special inspections within your qualifications.

- Mentor the technicians and give them feedback as you go.
- Help with lab work, proficiency testing and accreditation paperwork, and work with the PE on technical evaluations.
- A bachelor's in civil, construction or a related engineering field. Civil with a structural emphasis is ideal.
