Position Overview

The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a concentration in finance. To accomplish our mission, a significant portion of our teaching faculty should have professional experience in practicing financial management. We seek experienced finance professionals with the ability to teach in more than one area, including financial markets, commercial banking, real‑estate finance, insurance and risk management, personal finance, investments, corporate finance, and derivative securities.

Instructional assignments are contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funding. Non‑tenure‑track appointments may be part‑time or full‑time and vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate finance courses in on‑campus and/or online formats, ensuring high‑quality, engaging instruction.
  • Incorporate real‑world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in finance education to maintain course relevance.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in finance or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in finance or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance.
  • Industry certification such as CFA, CFP, CMA, CVA, etc.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends and practices in areas such as financial markets, commercial banking, insurance and risk management, real‑estate finance, personal finance, investments, corporate finance, and derivative securities.

Union Information

Positions with 0.5 FTE or more may be represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Positions with less than 0.5 FTE are not represented by the union. Union affiliation may change if FTE changes. Certain faculty exempt from union membership.
