Position: Dietitian- Outpatient Nutrition Clinic (FT- 0.9 FTE, Day Shift)

Position Summary:

Provides specialized counsel and education to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital/Health Group patients/families in an outpatient setting on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits (Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Completes nutrition assessments, develops and implements evidence-based care plans. Conducts individual and group programs and presentations. Attends meetings and care conferences, provides input and feedback regarding patient’s nutrition care.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.S degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Montana Licensure (Nutritionist)
  • Registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Successful completion of ADA/CDR approved internship - Registration Eligible
  • Preferred:
    Two (2) years of clinical dietetics experience
  • Preferred: MNT Coding and billing experience
Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on‑time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Conducts comprehensive MNT assessments. Provides education and counseling to patients referred by physicians and/or multidiscipline care teams.
  • Obtains and documents patients anthropometric measures, health and family histories. Completes progress notes within the electronic medical record.
  • Facilitates community and group programs classes, including ACT now classes.
  • Participates in community health fairs and events as appropriate and sanctioned by Bozeman Health.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other services, such as the Diabetes Educator, Social Services or other Food assistance programs or providers as indicated.
  • Communicates patient’s nutrition status to referral healthcare providers.
  • Participates in the development of nutrition education materials and programs.
  • Maintains timely and complete documentation and billing of all care management encounters.
  • Coordinates patient care with outside agencies, clinics and other health care professionals
  • Provides in‑service training for nursing and other departments as requested
  • Acts as the nutrition liaison/resource to Health Group clinics
  • Attends meetings as scheduled
  • Other duties as assigned

Schedule Requirements
  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40‑hour workweek, including weekends and after‑hours shifts.
  • On‑call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
