Job Summary

The Supervisor, Housekeeping is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, private homes, and surrounding areas to the highest standard. In doing so, they must adhere to O&O standards, ensuring that hygiene, cleanliness, and tidiness are always achieved.

Duties & Responsibilities

Enforces all standards and procedures for the resort’s Housekeeping services

Responsible for the overall cleanliness, replenishment, and maintenance of guest rooms, private homes, and public areas

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all assigned work areas

Inspects guest rooms daily, such as before arrivals, after departures, and while occupied, ensuring that they are cleaned to the highest level, all maintenance is reported and rectified, and standards are being adhered to

Inspects all VIP arrival rooms prior to arrival, as well as throughout their stay, ensuring day and turndown service occurred

Ensures the resort’s Lost & Found procedures are always adhered to

Ensures the proper use and care of cleaning agents and equipment

Ensures supplies and stock levels are maintained in pantries

Ensures stationery and collateral are in good repair

Takes ownership in assigned areas of preventative maintenance programs, guaranteeing that work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner

Reports all defects immediately, following up to ensure the completion of maintenance

Ensures safe work practices are strived towards

Supervises subordinates, conducting training on a regular basis, as well as when requested by superiors

Guarantees that the tasks provided are executed to meet the expectations of O&O standards

Monitors the attendance of their allocated section of subordinates

Performs corrective performance discussions with staff

Conducts performance reviews for assigned staff members

Skills, Experience, & Educational Requirements

Must have a thorough knowledge of housekeeping

Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position in a five star or higher category resort

Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and managers is required

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts is essential

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling
  • Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
