Materials Manager, Outdoor Performance
Revelyst seeks a Materials Manager to join our talented team. In this role, you will lead cross‑category identification, implementation, and management of apparel raw materials for Simms, Stone Glacier, Bushnell and other brands in the Outdoor Performance platform. This includes sourcing, research and development, commercialization, and seasonal management to meet established cost targets, design intention and testing standards. You will also manage a broad range of raw materials across multiple product categories and global vendors.
The role is critical to adhere to milestone dates and established workflow.
This position reports to the VP, Head of Product and is based out of our Bozeman office.
Responsibilities- Maintain a robust, organized, relevant, accessible, and easy‑to‑use materials library that supports market‑leading design and category direction.
- Detailed creation, management and socialization of standardized Materials Management documentation, database & dashboards that successfully drive the proto and commercialization phases forward.
- Own the materials planning and staging effort during product development and successfully partner with the category team(s), Finance, Sourcing, and Operations resources to hit milestone dates and workflow requirements for commercialized greige and materials planning.
- Work closely with Design leadership to distill trend research into seasonal material and color palette choices for the Simms and Stone Glacier product lines, and collaborate with design to deliver fabric needs for new seasonal product offerings.
- Evaluate and propose emerging materials technologies across multiple categories and industries.
- Establish regular meetings with key raw materials suppliers for new developments, line review, and industry trends.
- Create and present seasonally & technically relevant materials palettes and critical metrics (unit cost, lead‑time, MOQ) for review to Category Management, Design, and Development Team at appropriate milestone dates in the workflow.
- Work alongside the QA lab & field‑testing team to ensure all nominated materials are successfully tested against standards.
- Negotiate costing, MOQ, lead‑times, and leftover material charges with all raw material suppliers.
- Partner with Design staff to support the successful management of the lab dip and handloom/strikeoff process (milestones and workflow).
- Partner with fabric mills to execute seasonal print and pattern developments (plaids and stripe handlooms, print strike offs) and ensure quality is maintained from development through production.
- Attend seasonal print handoff to print designer with the Design team.
- Partner with the sourcing and supply chain team to build and maintain a raw materials supply chain that aligns with Simms’ overall objectives regarding risk management, operational efficiency, geographic diversification, and cost management.
- 4+ years of working experience as a Materials Manager.
- Bachelor's in materials management, business, finance, textiles design or relevant field.
- In‑depth knowledge of apparel raw materials supply chain and inventory management systems.
- Hands‑on experience with forecasting and budgeting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical thinking with problem‑solving aptitude.
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
Annual Salary: $112,000 – $129,000
The actual annual salary offered will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
