Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in the dish room and pots/pans.
  • Properly store clean service‑ware and cookware.
  • Clean work and service areas, and related equipment following the sanitarian’s recommendations.
  • Assist with training student and temporary employees.
  • Interact positively and professionally with customers.
  • Perform trash and compost removal duties.
  • Contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission.
  • May work as directed to serve food in display cooking stations or front‑of‑house areas, ensuring quality and compliance with FDA food codes.
  • May provide service in the dining area (beverage stations, trash, wiping tables/chairs, etc.).
  • May monitor inventory and keep records.
  • May assist with regular cleaning, disposition, and storage of foods (hot and cold), supplies, and equipment.
  • May assist with laundry service.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Basic experience in a customer service or food industry position or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Dishroom experience.

Position

Special Requirements / Additional Information
  • All full‑time positions are eligible for full benefits 12 months of the year.
  • 10‑ and 12‑month positions are available.
  • Shifts vary: 7 days per week from 5:30 am–9:30 pm.
  • May be asked to work days, evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays.
  • Occasional work outside and in inclement weather assisting with special events.
  • Must possess a 4‑hour sanitation certification or be able to obtain one.
  • Must have adequate English proficiency to follow directions from supervisor, read and understand safety guidelines, and communicate with customers (staff, visitors, students).
Physical Demands
  • Stationary or moving in kitchen, cooler, freezer, dock environments.
  • Stationary and moving for long periods of time.
  • Frequently moving and placing containers/products up to 30 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs).
  • Occasionally moving products up and down stairs.
  • Bending, kneeling, stretching and general moving while stocking products.
  • Gripping handles on small kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Performing repetitive motions related to job duties.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals.
