Position Summary
Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch Therapeutic Youth Mentor provides direct support, guidance, and mentoring to help youth develop coping skills, improve communication, and build positive relationships. Therapeutic youth mentors are role models that facilitate activities and work collaboratively with other team members to assist youth in reaching their goals.
Starting Salary Range$16.19 - $18.22 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to engage a diverse group of participants.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Exercise and model good judgment, teamwork, and professionalism, especially in crisis situations, and creatively find solutions.
- Collaborate with teams, supervisors, educators, community partners and families to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans and support youth’s complex needs.
- Create and conduct necessary documentation accurately and consistently maintain documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- 21 years old or older
- Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Driver’s License to operate passenger vehicle.
- Ability to relate and build rapport with youth therapeutically while serving as a positive role model.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality with youth and families.
- Work with youth in multiple settings, such as individually and in groups.
- Cooperate and collaborate with the treatment team.
- Work 1:1 with youth, independently of other co-workers.
- Display regular, predictable, and reliable attendance at work.
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Complete forms within an electronic Medical Health Record System typing at least 35 words per minute; familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 products is a plus.
- Demonstrate sound ethical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Be self‑motivated, self‑disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
- Prioritize team success over individual success.
- Effectively interact and communicate with others to build and maintain relationships, collaborate with colleagues, resolve conflicts, and navigate social situations.
