What You'll Do

As an Apprentice Steel Fixer, you will learn to assemble and erect the steel components required to strengthen reinforced concrete structures, such as bridges, culverts, railway stations, power stations, etc.

  • Setting out the work area, following engineering plans
  • Using hand and power tools to cut and bend bars or mesh
  • Tying steel reinforcement bars (rebars) to build cages

Typically, you will work within a larger team on construction projects, and, in the fullness of time, you will be able to interpret contract information, drawings and specifications, in order to assemble and install the components correctly.

Training Outcome

Once you have achieved your level 2 qualification you will have the opportunity to progress on to the next level. Ultimately this depends on the individuals work ethic and drive to succeed. Successful apprentice can progress into supervisory or management role within Kilnbridge.

Working Arrangements

Working Week: 17 years old:
Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 15:30. 40-hours, inclusive of an hour break each day.
18 years old+:
Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:30. 45-hours, not including up to an hour break each day.

Expected Duration: 1 Year 6 Months
