Site Engineer - Structures

Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering major structural works on the HS2 project in Northamptonshire. We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in structures and reinforced concrete to support the delivery of complex RC packages on this nationally significant infrastructure scheme.

As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day engineering support across key structural elements of the project. This role will suit an engineer with hands-on experience in reinforced concrete works who is comfortable working within a fast-paced, large-scale construction environment.

• Setting out and engineering control for reinforced concrete and structural works

• Support delivery of RC elements including bases, walls, slabs, abutments, and substructures

• Oversee reinforcement fixing, formwork, and concrete pours

• Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and programme

• Complete and manage QA documentation, ITPs, and as-built records

• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and the wider engineering team

• Support inspections and resolve technical queries

• Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on structures or RC-heavy civil engineering projects

• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction techniques

• Experience working on major infrastructure projects (HS2 experience advantageous)

• Confident with setting out and quality assurance processes

• CSCS card (essential)
