About The Role
EKFB is a joint venture combining expertise from Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall. We are seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager based in the Brackley area to support the Design and Engineering Manager in managing and delivering design in accordance with the Programme and the Client’s requirements.
The role provides overall technical accountability for the design and build, including day‑to‑day management, coordination, verification, technical review and interdisciplinary checking. The successful candidate will also manage and coordinate reviews or checks required by third parties such as Cat 3 design checkers, ensure coordination of all design and assurance deliverables with interfacing organisations, and review technical and assurance deliverables prior to acceptance by the Design and Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate the design, including completion of verification (checking), technical review and interdisciplinary assessment.
- Coordinate reviews or checks of the design required by third parties, such as Cat 3 design checkers.
- Ensure coordination of all design and assurance deliverables with interfacing organisations.
- Review technical and assurance deliverables prior to acceptance by the Design and Engineering Manager.
- Maintain close liaison and collaboration with the HS2 technical team.
- Establish regular meeting and reporting cycles for managing, coordinating and assuring the design.
- Manage and coordinate design‑related queries and changes during the construction stage.
- Confirm procedures for provision of Red Line / As‑Built information and support the collection of As‑Built data.
- Attend and support the Client, Designer and EKFB meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in major civil engineering works and large infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to coordinate workloads.
- Good communication skills.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle (required).
- Holder of SMSTS.
- Holder of a CSCS card (White; White/Yellow; Red – Experienced; Black – Manager or Gold – Supervisor).
EKFB was appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80 km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. The scope includes 15 viaducts, 5 km of green tunnels, 22 km of road diversions, 67 over bridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
