We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the operational and strategic management of the practice. This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Partners, PCN and wider team to ensure the practice continues our mission to deliver high-quality, safe and personalised care in a supportive and innovative environment, while supporting and developing our staff to reach their full potential.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Management – Provide leadership and operational oversight to ensure the smooth and effective running of the practice.
  • Support the GP Partners in the development and delivery of the practice's strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to PCN initiatives and collaborative working across the wider system.
  • Lead service development, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Human Resources and Workforce Management – Lead all HR functions, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, NHS guidance and best practice.
  • Develop and implement robust HR policies and procedures.
  • Lead workforce planning, training and staff development to support succession planning and service sustainability.
  • Foster a positive organisational culture that supports staff wellbeing, engagement and professional development.
  • Ensure appropriate appraisal systems and learning frameworks are in place.
  • Finance and Contract Management – Ensure effective management of NHS contracts, PCN funding and enhanced services.
  • Work with accountants and external advisors to ensure financial compliance and value for money.
  • Explore and develop opportunities for the commercial use of the practice building, in line with NHS guidance and practice objectives.
  • Manage and maintain contracts with external providers, including NHFT.
  • Governance, Compliance and Risk – Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, NHS contractual requirements, information governance and health & safety legislation.
  • Lead on clinical and corporate governance systems, including complaints, risk management and incident reporting.
  • Maintain policies, procedures and assurance frameworks.
  • Estates, IT and Operational Management – Oversee the management of the practice premises, ensuring a safe and effective environment for patients and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the existing Finance, Administration and IT Managers to ensure effective operational delivery.
  • Manage external suppliers and service contracts.
