Graduate Accountant

An exciting opportunity for an aspiring accountant to join a growing finance team, supporting financial reporting, regulatory reporting, statutory accounts, tax compliance, and audit processes. This role offers excellent exposure to technical accounting, regulatory reporting, and finance projects within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with internal management reporting and external regulatory reporting requirements.
• Support the preparation and timely filing of statutory accounts across multiple legal entities, including dormant and non-consolidating entities.
• Liaise with external auditors and assist with audit requests, data gathering, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare corporation tax information for external tax advisers.
• Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
• Support the production of monthly and quarterly regulatory reporting.
• Keep up to date with developments in IFRS, regulatory requirements, and legislative changes, supporting the implementation of new accounting standards where required.
• Assist with company liquidation processes, including final accounts preparation, tax filings, stakeholder liaison, and entity closure activities.
• Support a range of ad hoc finance tasks and projects.
• Contribute to wider business projects requiring finance input and analysis.
• Assist senior members of the finance team with internal and external stakeholder matters.
• Develop technical accounting knowledge and support the drafting of accounting papers and technical memos.

Governance & Controls

• Ensure adherence to internal finance policies and governance frameworks.
• Support the enhancement of financial controls in response to audit findings, regulatory changes, business growth, and process improvements.
• Contribute to maintaining a robust and compliant control environment.

Candidate Profile

• Studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA).
• Minimum of 1 year's accounting or finance experience.
• Good understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Basic knowledge of corporation tax and VAT compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Able to work collaboratively as part of a team whilst also taking ownership of responsibilities independently.
• Quick learner with the ability to apply knowledge across different areas of finance.
• Experience with in a regulated financial services environment.
• Exposure to statutory accounts preparation and external audit processes.
• Understanding of mortgage, lending, or financial services accounting.
• Interest in emerging technologies and AI applications within finance.
