Rochester Job Type: Full-time, Permanent An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to join a growing business. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in delivering financial insight, supporting decision-making, and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation. This role would suit a part-qualified, finalist or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant with experience gained within a cost-focused environment such as manufacturing, engineering, construction, or another project-based business.

Key Responsibilities Management Accounts & Reporting Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting commentary. Post accruals, prepayments and journals. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and control account reviews. Analyse P&L performance and investigate variances. Produce KPI and financial performance reports. Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting. Costing & Commercial Analysis Analyse project, contract or product costs to support profitability reporting. Review cost allocations and improve costing processes.

Provide operational teams with financial insight on performance and margins. Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction. Financial Control Prepare VAT returns and assist with statutory reporting. Support external audits and year-end accounts preparation. Maintain strong financial controls and compliance procedures. Business Partnering Work closely with operational, manufacturing, engineering, procurement and commercial teams. Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting activities.

Provide financial analysis to senior management. Assist budget holders in monitoring expenditure and performance. Continuous Improvement Support finance transformation initiatives and process improvements. Assist with ERP and reporting system enhancements. Provide wider support across the finance function as required. About You Essential Part-qualified, finalist or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant. Previous experience in a Management Accountant or Assistant Management Accountant role.

Experience with in a costing-focused environment, including:
Manufacturing Engineering Construction Project-based or industrial sectors Strong understanding of cost analysis, profitability and operational reporting. Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups. Strong analytical, reconciliation and communication skills.

Desirable Experience supporting audits and statutory accounts preparation. Knowledge of ERP systems. Exposure to stock accounting, project accounting or standard costing. Personal Attributes Commercially focused with strong business awareness. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail. Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
