Social Worker – First Response, Duty and Assessment Team (Children’s Social Care)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Social Worker to join our First Response, Duty and Assessment Team within Children’s Social Care. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct needs-led, child-focused assessments, including outcome-focused plans
- Manage a duty caseload, including single assessments under S17 and S47 investigations, as well as some short-term work
- Respond to child protection concerns as part of the duty system
- Prioritise workloads effectively and manage time efficiently
- Engage in regular reflective supervision, setting clear goals and intervention strategies
- Monitor and evaluate demand, reporting any resource shortfalls to your supervisor
- Maintain accurate case records in compliance with departmental policies and GDPR
- Advocate for children’s voices, ensuring their views are recorded and acted upon appropriately
- Ensure life journey work is age-appropriate and aligns with the child’s understanding
- Adhere to ASPIRE priorities: timeliness, smart planning, impactful assessments, reflective supervision, and meaningful engagement with children
- Ensure access to translation and interpretation services where necessary
- Contribute to service development by participating in team meetings and promoting integrated, effective services for children
- Provide cover for team members and take on additional duties based on experience and competencies
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
- Registration with Social Work England
- Significant experience in statutory children and families social work
- In-depth knowledge of legal frameworks and safeguarding duties in relation to children and young people
- Successful completion of the ASYE programme and relevant post-qualifying
