Job Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Teaching Assistant to start in September 2026. The role involves working with teachers to deliver quality teaching that facilitates independence and progress for our pupils. Experience or willingness to receive training in manual handling is desirable.

Salary and Working Conditions
  • Salary: BGI 6‑14 £ 16,757 - £18,985 (based on £13.84 - £15.69 per hour including London Weighting)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working Pattern: Part Time / Term Time
  • Hours: 27.5 hours per week, term time plus 2 days

Role Context

Rise@GHC is a specialist resource provision for learners with Autism, part of Garth Hill College. The centre is accredited by the National Autistic Society (July 2024) and awarded a silver award for School of the Year in the Pride of Bracknell awards.

The role supports autistic young people in a range of activities that are purposeful and engaging, promoting independence, emotional well‑being, and social communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to teachers in the delivery of lessons.
  • Assist pupils in developing independence and progress.
  • Support the implementation of activities that foster emotional well‑being and social communication.
  • Use manual handling techniques where required; training will be provided.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (GCSE Grade C or higher or equivalent).
  • Experience or training with manual handling preferred.
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Commitment to supporting children/young people and promoting their welfare.
