* SUMMARY:

** Participates in the processing of insurance claims by performing the following administrative duties.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** include the following; other duties may be assigned.
* Review insurance claim forms and related documents (e.g., medical records) for required information.
* Enter new claim setup information into claims management system (Claims

XPress). Maintain existing files in claims management system.
* Print and prepare outgoing letters and forms on behalf of claims adjusters.
* Scan and sort incoming daily mail.
* Pay claim-related expenses as authorized.
* Handle incoming calls. Make outgoing calls as specifically required.
* Assist Claims Support Specialists with special research and daily projects as needed. Assist Team Leads with special training projects as needed.
* Execute special projects for adjusters and supervisors as needed, including file research and preparation.
* Execute temporary and ongoing special projects for clients, including client requests for dedicated assistance and accessing client systems in order to process payments or carry out other clerical work.

* QUALIFICATIONS:

** Strong organization skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work are required. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work is required. Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, are needed.

Basic computer skills are required, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.
** EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

** A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience working in claims, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience, is preferred. A current and valid driver’s license within the state of practice is required.
** LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

** Ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, general ledgers, and procedural manuals. Ability to respond to inquiry or complaints.  Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.
** REASONING ABILITY:
** Ability to solve problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.
** MATHEMATICAL ABILITY:
** Ability to calculate figures/amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.  
** COMMUNICATION:
** Communication for this position entails minimal contact with external constituents up to 20% of the time and extensive contact with internal constituents up to 80% of the time.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
** The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally required to drive a vehicle.
