Job SummaryThe Project Engineer will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction activities. They are the on-site senior engineers with the authority to make decisions and change plans.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Experience:
- At least seven years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Knowledge of change order recognition and management
Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a high-demand environment and meet goals
- Proficiency with software (or willingness to learn): CAD, Blue Beam, Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, MS Project or P6, Microsoft Office
- Works well in an unstructured environment
- Formulation of technical proposals (means and methods, schedules, pricing)
- Advanced construction software operating capabilities
- Excellent technical writing and verbal skills
- Review project proposals and plans to determine time frame, funding, procedures, staffing, and resource allotment
- Confer with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties
- Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to keep on schedule and within budget
- Review status reports for management, clients, and others
- Plan and design temporary structures per construction and government standards using design tools
- Coordinate project activities with Ballard personnel, subcontractors, and JV partners
- Assist direction, coordination, and evaluation of safety, performance, budget, scheduling, equipment management, and quality
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded project schedules
- Supervise in accordance with policies and laws
- Collaborate with estimating during procurement phases
- Act as Quality Control/Quality Assurance representative as required
- May act as Ballard’s lead representative in the absence of the Project Manager
- Organize and manage subcontractors
- Working outdoors in varied temperatures and conditions
- Wears PPE (e.g., respirators, fall protection)
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- May work outdoors for long periods in various seasons
- Climb ladders, work at heights, walk/stand on uneven surfaces, ride or work from a barge, pier, or vessel
- Travel on land, water, and air
- Lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, squatting as needed
- Prolonged desk/computer work
- Travel up to 75% of the year

Salary Range$90k-$115k
Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications
