Job DescriptionThe ESE Teacher position is responsible for coaching, motivating, and instructing special education high school students within the company model, with attention given to each student’s Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) and Individual Educational Plan (IEP). The ESE teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure that the instructional and social-emotional needs of the special education student are met. The ESE teacher also works with the school’s Administrators to ensure that all ESE paperwork and reporting requirements are in compliance with national, state, and district regulations and serves to facilitate and ensure compliance with state, district, and company Response to Intervention (RtI) policies.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provide a high accountability, student-centered learning environment aligned with the school’s academic goals.
- Demonstrate effective knowledge of subject matter and best instructional practices.
- Assist in initiatives to meet enrollment and attendance goals.
- Maintain student records including progress reports, attendance, behavior, and grades.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement educational practices suited to students’ needs.
- Participate in professional development to maintain certification.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support student educational and behavioral goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Appropriate Teacher’s certification.
- Knowledge of secondary education principles and curriculum design.
- Ability to analyze data for program improvement.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience working with over-age and at-risk youth is preferred.
